Don, KB8LWL, a Net Control Operator for the District Net for many years, became a Silent Key on Saturday, 11 September. In addition to his active participation with the West Central Ohio Amateur Radio Club, he was an also a member of the Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management EMCOMM Team.  he will be sorely missed.

Long Time D3 ARES Net Control Operator, Emil Constantine, KC8HYK, SK

Emil Constantine, KC8HYK, became a Silent Key on February 3rd, 2019

Emil served many years as a Net Control Operator for the Ohio District 3 ARES Net.

He was a long time member of the Kettering Medical Center Amateur Radio Association (KMCARA) and was a founding member of the West Central Ohio Amateur Radio Association (WCOARA) when it was formed from the KMCARA in 2000.  He served on the WCOARA Board of Directors, was Chairman of the Science and Education Committee and held several other positions.

He was also active in supporting Public Service Events as well as the Amateur Radio point of contact for the Kettering Medical Center.

Ernie Hudson, KI8O SK

Ernie Hudson, KI8O, The Montgomery County Ohio ARES EC, became a Silent Key 2 August 2002 at age 69.

This was the text of the eulogy that Sam read during the ARES net of 7 August 2002. Ernie had been scheduled to be Net Control that night. Randy, KAØAZS assumed Net Control. We started the Net with a moment of silence. For the Montgomery County EC report, Sam read the following:

It will be difficult to describe the loss of Ernie this evening. I’m sure that he would say “Well good evening Randy and all the members of the net. I really appreciate you being there and you’re doing a great job.” Unfortunately we will never hear those words from him again.
