Youngs Jersey Dairy Charity Bike Tour 26-26 July 2026

July 25 - July 26

Young’s Jersey Dairy Charity Bike Tour July 25 – July 26, 2026 marks the return of the two-day bike ride.

This ride is for the express benefit of four Charities. These four charities; Alzheimer’s Association, Breakthrough T1D (aka Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation), South Community Behavioral Health, and United Rehabilitation Services have received a combined total of over $1.8 million over the last 23 years.

This year we hope to raise another $100,000 to divide among these charities. To accomplish this goal it takes many volunteers. This includes volunteers from Young’s Jersey Dairy, the Board that supports and coordinates the ride, the charities that support the rest stops and lunch stops, and of course US – The local Amateur Radio Operators that give back to our communities utilizing our skill in communications and emergency preparedness to provide safety and communications for the riders.

The start line for Saturday’s ride is Young’s Jersey Dairy just outside of Yellow Springs.

There are several ride options including an 80 mile ride with the option to add a 20 mile power loop. Most of the options follow along the scenic back roads and by ways of Ohio.

The second day of the ride begins at the University with a start time of 9:00 am.

We hope to finish no later than 4:00 pm on July 26.

For those that have participated in this 2 day ride in the past you will be familiar with our Leap Frog method of moving our operators ahead so that we all end our day at the University. This means multiple assignments for most operators.

We will be overnighting in Delaware, Ohio at Ohio Wesleyan University in the dorms. Lunch is provided at one of the rest stops, an evening meal and breakfast is provided at the University. While it is not mandatory to stay overnight at the University it does offer the opportunity for camaraderie and networking with other operators. However, since this is for Charity a small donation is suggested toward the cost of your room.

Amateur Radio Operators will be supported by the Dayton Amateur Radio Association Big Amateur Truck or “BAT” Communications Vehicle. Net Control will be run from the BAT and it will also leap frog along the route.

This public service event is being coordinated by JANESE, KD8DGB and MARK, N8ME. You can contact Janese at Janese2896@ Gmail.com or Mark at  mark.election@gmail.com with any questions or to confirm your interest in participating.

As it gets closer to the date I will be getting assignments together for everyone participating as well as maps. I will send out the preliminary maps as soon as I can.

Oh, and don’t forget this ride is supported with plenty of delicious Young’s Jersey Dairy Ice Cream!
