SUMMARY:Air Force Marathon
DESCRIPTION:The Air Force Marathon will be held on Saturday 19 September 2026 at the Museum of the US Air Force and on Wright Patterson AFB. \nDue to Base access and security requirements you had to register in advance if you plan to volunteer\, even if you already have credentials to access Wright Patterson AFB. \nRegistration closed on Monday August 31st \nWe provide the primary communications network for the Hydration Stations. Besides passing requests for supplies\, we report race progress (super important to make sure that hydration support is available for all runners\, including the tail-enders)\, reports of need for medical response\, and help with other logistical issues. We provide secondary communications for the medical tents on the course. The medical teams are skilled at providing medical treatment\, but are not as good at communications. We also provide finish area spotters and help to keep the announcer advised of race progress. \nWe are required to conduct training\, but you are not required to attend the meeting if you are willing to study the materials that will be posted on line. DESCRIPTION:It is that time of year again! \nWe are gearing up for the 2026 Twisted Pretzel Tour on Saturday\, September 26th\, and we need your help to make it a success. \nLast year’s event was fantastic\, and that was largely due to the incredible support from all of our volunteers and ham radio operators. This year\, we aim to grow our volunteer base. \nHere are the key details for this year’s event:\nDate: Saturday\, September 26\, 2026\nMeeting Time: Approximately 7:00 AM\nLocation: Germantown Senior Center (Downtown Germantown) \nWhat’s New: We have made a few course adjustments to enhance safety and the overall experience\, including reducing rider traffic on Diamond Mill Road. These changes should also improve operations and communications for our ham radio team. \nCommunication packets will be prepared and distributed to everyone prior to event day. \nHow You Can Help: \nRSVP: Please send me a quick email or SMS text message letting me know if you can or cannot participate this year.
