MVPT is limited mailing list for messages that, as stated in the title, are of a Priority nature.\u00a0 Types of traffic would be ARES Net activation\u2019s, SKYWARN activation\u2019s, placing operators on stand-by, or other important information.\u00a0 It will also be used during exercises when it would be appropriate if the situation was real.<\/p>\n
It will NOT<\/strong> be used for routine things such as test sessions,\u00a0 radio equipment for sale, meeting announcements or general questions. Please direct those to the Miami Valley Amateur Radio Bulletin Board (MVARBB)<\/a> or other normal channels.<\/p>\n The idea is to get information to people that, for one reason or another, do not want a lot of the routine messages, such as those with limited e-mail access, NOTE<\/strong>:\u00a0 As of 17 June 2025 AT&T will no longer be supporting the e-mail to text feature used by MVPT to send messages to cell phones and pagers.<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0<\/a> Verizon had previously announced that they are also dropping support for this feature<\/a>.\u00a0 Many of the smaller carriers actually use AT&T or Verizon systems for their traffic. For some time now both has been delaying (sometimes for days) ARES and SKYWARN test messages, as well as actual SKYWARN activations as a “anti-spam” measure.\u00a0 \u00a0Alternatives suggested by the service providers are impractical due to limited usage allowed for free access, or due to unsupportable costs.<\/p>\npagers,<\/del> or want to monitor from a work account.<\/p>\n
