The Air Force Marathon<\/a> will be held on Saturday 19 September 2026 at the Museum of the US Air Force and on Wright Patterson AFB.<\/p>\n

Due to Base access and security requirements you had to register in advance if you plan to volunteer, even if you already have credentials to access Wright Patterson AFB.<\/p>\n

Registration closed on Monday August 31st<\/strong><\/p>\n

We provide the primary communications network for the Hydration Stations. Besides passing requests for supplies, we report race progress (super important to make sure that hydration support is available for all runners, including the tail-enders), reports of need for medical response, and help with other logistical issues. We provide secondary communications for the medical tents on the course. The medical teams are skilled at providing medical treatment, but are not as good at communications. We also provide finish area spotters and help to keep the announcer advised of race progress.<\/p>\n

We are required to conduct training, but you are not required to attend the meeting if you are willing to study the materials that will be posted on line. The training class will be held on Sunday, September 13 at 1600<\/strong>. Location is the Township Training Room in the lower level of BTFD Station 61 (2195 Dayton-Xenia Rd, Beavercreek 45434,<\/a> West end of the complex, lower level near the Sheriff’s substation). Same location as last year. I will attempt to have volunteer shirts available at the meeting.<\/p>\n

It is that time of year again!<\/p>\n

We are gearing up for the 2026 Twisted Pretzel Tour<\/a> on Saturday, September 26th, and we need your help to make it a success.<\/p>\n

Last year\u2019s event was fantastic, and that was largely due to the incredible support from all of our volunteers and ham radio operators. This year, we aim to grow our volunteer base.<\/p>\n

Here are the key details for this year\u2019s event:
\nDate: Saturday, September 26, 2026
\nMeeting Time: 7:00 AM
\nLocation: Germantown Senior Center<\/a> (Downtown Germantown) Covering routes through Germantown and Farmersville<\/p>\n

Scope:\u00a0 4 Routes ranging from 8 to 48 miles<\/p>\n

We need operators stationed along the course and at rest stops to help monitor rider safety, report sag wagon needs, and maintain net control throughout the morning. Both mobile setups and handhelds are welcome.<\/p>\n

If you can lend an ear and a mic to help support a great community event, please get in touch<\/p>\n

RSVP: Please send me a quick email<\/a> or SMS text message letting me know if you can or cannot participate this year. (We have a few returning volunteers who are unavailable, so an accurate count is critical.)<\/p>\n
